KHOU is seeking editors/photojournalists/producers who can edit, create and produce exciting and interesting news opens and content for broadcast, online and social content. Producers must be able to shoot and run live units (microwave, cellular and satellite) during the newsgathering hours and share content digitally. The ideal candidates are also creative problem solvers. Our Producers must be able to skillfully use ENPS Newsroom software, BitCentral Content Management, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Create unique content evoking emotion.
Shoot and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms
EDIT in an exciting, captivating manner.
Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories.
Develop original content through social listening and independent sources.
Deliver on-air, online news events in an engaging, exciting, and accurate manner.
Use consumer analytics in determining content.
Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
Active in National Press Photographers Association critiques and activities
Acquire content using standard ENG equipment including Sony PMW-500, Sony PXW-X180, and DSLR Professional Cameras
Tune in Satellite shots, Microwave shots and TVU backpacks in Sat Center
Operate ENG Microwave Vehicles
Operate DSNG Vehicles
Operate bonded cellular live units
Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer.

BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
2-5 years of experience preferred
Bilingual (English & Spanish) speaking preferred
Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
Understanding the tenants of professional journalism
Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook
Knowledge of ENPS, Adobe CC suit including adobe Premier pro, and BitCentral
Knowledge of Edius, Lakana CMS, and Axis graphics a plus
Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
